Ellie-May Williams
I started my knitwear journey on BA (Hons) Textile Design which formed a new found passion for knitwear, leading me to transfer to BA (Hons) Fashion Knitwear and Knitted Textiles. This allowed me to take a year on placement where I gained invaluable technical and design skills including knowledge about yarn, colour, technical drawings and knitted structures. This left me feeling very confident and excited going into my final year and also, reinforced not only my love for knitwear but my future aspiration of working within the knitwear design industry. My final major project is titled 'A Frame Of Fragility' and it's main aim is to celebrate the beauty of historical objects and portray their poetic mood through knitted open-work lace structures. In particular it is focused around the ornate patterning and qualities of 17th and 18th century ironworks and ceramics, to illustrate the meaningful history of them to form a collection that is delicate yet dramatic and opulent.
