I’m a MA graduate with a passion for illustrating graphic novels centred around fairytales and folk legends. I always aim to create narratives people would find visually engaging, entertaining, and informative. For my MA project, I wrote and illustrated a short graphic novel aimed for children inspired from old Ukrainian folktales. Being Ukrainian myself, it’s my hope that children can use this book to discover and learn more about different aspects of Ukrainian culture through an entertaining narrative. As an artist I always aim to for my imagery to have a cinematic quality to them to help readers emotionally resonate with the story’s characters and events. While all my MA projects have been done using traditional media, such as ink and watercolour, I’m also skilled creating digital artwork and animation using photoshop and after effects. It’s through this MA project that I’ll be able start my career as a freelance illustrator for children’s books and graphic novels.
