Zuzanna Pastuszek
I am a visual artist in my final year of studying BA (Hons) Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. My practice is largely conceptual, I am concerned with mainly sculpture and installation as a space in which to explore abstraction, observe and manipulate materials and investigate themes such as identity, femininity, fragility, and the self. Contextually, my work is informed by my experience as a Slavic woman; being a Polish immigrant of a working-class background has always prompted my curiosity regarding my surroundings, interpersonal relationships, womanhood, class struggle, and nationality. In March of 2023, I exhibited work at Surface gallery in Nottingham, as part of ‘NTU FESTIVAL: INSIDE, OUTSIDE, TOGETHER, APART’, I curated 'Mother', an exhibition examining female friendship, spirituality, and a sense of belonging through the use of paintings, abstract sculpture, and installation. I hope to become involved in collective art-making and collaborative work with other artists.
