Samantha Famula
I am a theatre designer and maker with work experience at the Nottingham Playhouse in both assistant Stage Management and Prop Builder roles. I adore theatre and have a particular love of musicals and classical plays by the likes of Shakespeare, and I enjoy experimenting with combining elements of the traditional and the contemporary in my costumes and staging. A great passion of mine is the research, design and creation of masks from times and cultures all around the world; from Japanese Kabuki theatre, Venetian Renaissance masquerade, Dia de los Muertos, and Greek tragedy and comedy. I love making masks and hope to start a side business where I make them to order. A topic I am interested in further exploring is the potential uses of performance outside of the stage, whether that be outdoors or in museums and historical sites. In pursuing this interest I have applied for the Masters degree in Museum and Heritage Development, where I hope to bring a background of unique experience.
