Hi, I’m Bonnie and I'm currently completing my third year at Nottingham Trent University on the BA (Hons) Fine Art course. My practice centres on re-staging iconic film scenes, stemming from the 1980’s to 2000’s thriller genre, into photorealistic oil paintings that function as movie posters. Focusing on female protagonists to subvert the male gaze, emphasising the female gaze- enabling me as a female artist to regain power over these roles. Staging these alongside photos combining painting and photography. Whilst residing in Nottingham I have exhibited my paintings at Twitchel Gallery and The Organ Grinder, alongside being shortlisted for the Freelands Painting Prize. All the while maintaining my commissions business, whereby I am contacted regarding prominently portrait paintings and drawings. Following university, I am motivated to seeing this business flourish and to continue confidently exhibiting my work, as well as engaging within a career in teaching starting in September.
