I’m Yu Peng, a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student. Since the beginning of time, clothing has been defined as mens and womens because of their gender, creating stereotypes. My project Soáutos explores themes of genderless. I don't think clothes should be defined by gender, they are worn without restriction and celebrate everyone's individuality and identity. Everything Masculinity, Everything Femininity, Everything in between - that's my understanding of genderless. I use pleats and drapes as elements of my designs, combining soft and masculine fabrics, and figuring out how to make the overall effect genderless. Also, I choose deadstock fabric and 3D printing to ensure that my collection is made from sustainable and responsible fabrics. My goal is to continue to produce genderless clothing, I think genderless is the future.
