I am a Textiles Masters student, specialising in Weave. My creative practice focuses on my journey from normality to ill health, portraying the complexities and challenges faced when navigating a new lifestyle. The master's degree has allowed me to tell my story, raising awareness for invisible diseases and providing a voice for others; who are often overlooked or misunderstood.
'Creative Flare' - my woven collection, reveals the raw truth of living with Ulcerative Colitis. My detailed exploration of wool, washing and temperature has enabled me to establish an innovative way of depicting vulnerability and chaos through varying textures and tactility. The collection itself has been created using imagery from mark-making, sculptures and medical scans, using a distinctive neutral palette. After this, I will be progressing my career at a specialist creative academy as the Head of Creative Arts. I am very excited to support young people realise their own innovative potential.
