Sam Macaulay

I am a final year trans-non-binary BA (Hons) Fashion Communication and Promotion student. Throughout my study, I've mainly specialised in graphic design, concept development, and creative thinking. When it comes to my works, I focus on identity and culture and its relationship with the wider landscape. This is mainly due to my identity as a black, queer person - I wanted to try and find a place for me to belong within the fashion industry as a marginalised person. My final year project is an example of this, examining dance and identity and its relationship with the fashion and entertainment industry. It looked at different styles of dance and how their history of being appropriated and created outcomes as a solution to that issue. For my outcomes, I made a short film, photo zine, and poster that were widely received by both my target audience and people outside of that. After graduating, I wish to keep making works and outcomes that connect to people and their identities and cultures.
