Sam Beaton

My name is Sam and I am a final year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student. I love the intersectionalities within art and design and seeing the arts as a designed medium, whether that be film, art direction, editorial or graphic design. I love to maintain a deeply personal sense of sensitivity within my work, not in a feeling of restraint but in a sense of tenderness and an emotive character. From affirming discussions in first year on this descriptor, it was in second year and the discovery of risograph printing, granular textures of the camcorder and malleable visuals, that I fully realised the tools and ideas to translate this. I enjoy exploring the unconventional with utilising unlikely mediums like play-doh, syrup, ketchup and more into ideas that are clean and accessible enough to be approachable and dynamic enough to be intriguing and forward-thinking. After graduating I hope to expand my connections and creative practices, possibly working towards areas of art direction or creative direction.
