My oil paintings involve elements of abstraction and figuration to capture the fleeting moment and fragmented memories. I explore the ephemeral moment, creating an otherworldly, dreamlike place, suspended in time, contrasting to memory’s fleeting nature. I am interested in the human perception of memories and how they transform over time, losing clarity and becoming fragments of scattered moments throughout our lives. Unidentified groups of two or three people occupy each painting, exploring strong emotions and relationships between them, myself, and the viewer. The subjects are based on my loved ones, and I take my inspiration from old family photographs, collecting some that depict briefly passing moments, strong emotions or feel significant as a memory. I then transform them on the canvas to represent the human sensations of the original experience. My time studying BA (Hons) Fine Art has solidified my love for the art world and my desire to turn my practice into a professional career.
