My name is Pearl D’Souza, and I recognise myself as a science Illustrator / visual communicator. I was born and raised in Mumbai, India, where I started my practice with a first-class BSc in Life Sciences. Hence, my journey as an illustration student has unfolded in the realm where art and science converge, along with my deep appreciation of the natural world. I used to think my work with science and art live in different universes and do not have many convergence points. However, a deeper dive into them made me realise that they are both practices that involve a meaningful observation and understanding of life around us. This epiphany pushed me to bring my work together and create a new path. I believe my strength lies in contextualisation and research. Through my BSc and BA, I have developed scientific temper that allows me to question my work and look at the world through a curious sight. This grants me the ability to unravel stories and make science more accessible.
