Hi! I’m Mielle, a final year BA (Hons) Illustration student. My practice is heavily influenced by exploration, I enjoy exploring the world around me and how I could use the things I find in my work. My PLACE came to be after I explored my hometown of Stockport to see what I could find, in the end it turned into finding a way I could give this discarded rubbish meaning again. I work in an analogue way as I like the unpredictability of a hands-on approach, this year I used photography and printing techniques to document the things I found in Stockport. Détournement played a big part in inspiring my final year work, learning how to subvert the work to make new meanings was very intriguing to me and I feel will influence my work going forward.
In the future I hope to keep exploring what the world has to offer.
