Hey! I'm Laura Korpa, a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student based in Nottingham. After winning the NEXT menswear competition in my second year of university, I knew I had found my passion for menswear. Taking inspiration from my Hungarian heritage and my great grandma's hand embroidered tablecloths, for my final year project I created my menswear brand ‘KORPA’, which explores innovative ways of embedding traditional motifs through laser engraving and knitwear. Combining relaxed silhouettes with bold patterns has allowed me to create eye-catching yet still very wearable looks which I have always strived for. My placement at NEXT taught me a lot about trend research and attention to detail which has helped me develop as a menswear designer, and after winning both the Paul Smith and NEXT x GFF menswear competition in my final year of university, I hope to further develop my skills and creativity within the fashion Industry.
