Katie Slingsby

I am a final year BA (Hons) Costume Design & Construction student at Nottingham Trent University. Costume within the film and theatre industries has always intrigued me, even more so to design and make my own. Over the last few years I have been expanding my knowledge and skills at NTU, creating some of my pieces that I am most proud of. My fascination with history and the art of hand embroidery is something that I aspire to work on in the future. A goal of mine is to be able to work on period dramas where I can create intricate and detailed embroidery pieces and to be able to push myself within my skills of embroidery that can leave a lasting impact on audiences. Some of my favourite pieces include a dress that I made of Juliet for William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and Medusa from the Greek Mythologies.
