I am a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Management student looking to pursue a career in buying. During my final year at NTU, I researched the area of licensing in the mass market for my dissertation. This sparked a real interest in licensing for me whilst allowing me to speak to many experts in the field and learn from them. In my third year, I had the opportunity to undertake a placement year at Primark. I worked in Dublin as a trainee buyer on the Accessories team where I helped manage the makeup bags, licenses, belts, and suitcases subsections. This culminated in me managing the makeup bags account, working on development, cost negotiation, critical path management, and sign-off presentations. Whilst on placement I was also given the opportunity to develop and present a concept for Primark to gain new customers along with my peers in front of business leaders, for which we won ‘Best Idea’. After graduating I am planning to continue my career journey at Primark and move to Dublin.
