I am a final year BA (Hons) Textile Design student. From specialising in print I have been able to explore my passions into bold and graphic pattern design as well as repurposing materials with a no-waste mindset. My final project is based on non-gendered design; my focus is creating a safe space in the fashion world for non-binary and androgynous people. My final year project, 'This Brutalist World' places emphasis on helping to build a non-gendered world of fashion, through using unisex colours and an androgynous street wear style. Repurposing materials comes to play in this collection as I am using mainly re purposed PPE gowns; my drive to use this material came after the pandemic when I became aware of the large amounts of PPE gowns ending up in landfill as the material cannot biodegrade. ‘This Brutalist World’ utilises the idea of interacting with architecture along with graphic graffiti, creating an expressive street wear fashion collection, whilst remaining unisex.
