Hannah Sowter

During my time at University, I have learned many skills to help me express my imaginative flair for generating creative concepts and designs for characters for both screen and live productions. The aspects of the course I particularly enjoyed were millinery, corsetry and working with stretch fabrics. These skills have allowed me to gain an insight into the need for functionality and comfort when designing dancewear and lingerie which I hope to pursue in the future. Inspired by this and my love for performing, for my element one project I concentrated on designing and creating a range of Latin dancewear for my take on 'Strictly Come Dancing' called 'Celebrity Strictly Saltare' (the Latin word for dance). For my element two project I designed and created a Burlesque costume for a biopic feature film about the life of Dita Von Teese. My work is a blend of both creativity and professionalism. After graduating, I hope to work as a Costume Supervisor or have my own business.
