My name is Gabriele Barkute and I am from Lithuania. I am a final year (BA) Fashion Design student at Nottingham Trent University. My design style is quite futuristic, as I like to take every day mundane things and transfer them into whimsical, surrealistic fashion pieces. In my final collection I investigated my roots. I looked at Lithuanian folk culture and lifestyle. I use various craft and DIY techniques to express my inner world yet always trying to be sustainable and reuse various materials and fabrics. Also, I have worked with different materials and tried different techniques. As I have explored this path, I realised that creating wearable art is what my goal is.
