My passion in textiles is experimenting with big textures and tactile qualities to ensure all my samples have a sensory aspect to them. I like to work in a multi-disciplinary manner, combining lots of techniques and mediums to create out of the box outcomes. I work in a sustainability led way and try to use mainly found materials to re-purpose, meaning that there are fewer waste materials at the end of a project. My samples are often most successful when I experiment with using unconventional techniques and materials. I find this to be an exciting and unique way of working. For my Utopia project I have focused on natural formations and textures to inspire a fantasy themed collection for a film. I’ve really enjoyed constructing a brief with the freedom to create textiles for a mythical and imaginary outcome.
