Esme Heath

I'm a final year BA (Hons) Textile Design student. My final year collection Fragile Perception explores ideas of body dysmorphia and mental health disorders that affect us within today’s image oriented society. Within my practice I like to experiment with hand and digital print techniques to generate deep and textural, multilayered outcomes with a focus on distortion and external beauty. Although I have a background of textiles design in my studies and personal life before attending university, my interest of fabric design for high end apparel truly began during my week of work experience with Stephen Walters & Sons Sudbury silk mills where I gathered valuable knowledge about industry. I then became specifically focused on womenswear print design within my degree practice. I love experimenting in the print room, trialling new techniques and endless colour ways to develop my designs. Looking ahead I am keen to develop my textiles knowledge and print practice to prepare me for the textiles industry.
