Inspired by a ballerina who fell in love with a gangster, my BA knitwear collection tells the story of Igea Lissoni and Lucky Luciano’s life together which was anything but a fairytale. Tragically, Igea died at a young age, leaving Lucky devastated as she was the love of his life. My collection serves as a tribute to Igea's life, which was marked by oppression and hardship. Flower motifs symbolise the delicate intricacies of her circumstances, inspiring the colour palette and silhouette choices through a contrast of feminine floral elements with masculine silhouettes influences. The collection celebrates Igea’s life bringing light to her story which has been hidden away. My interests lie within story telling though womenswear, my future aspirations are to design for womenswear but I am also extremely interested in styling. I enjoy telling the story through an image, searching for props and accessories to tell the story.
