Caprice Burcher

I am a Nottingham based painter whose visual aesthetic is firstly informed by geometric abstraction and minimalism. Influenced by the rhythms of music I listen to while painting visually informs the line, texture and spatial choices when constructing the visual elements of my work. The aesthetics of the Bauhaus and American modernism is central to how I visually communicate space and play with the perception of three-dimensional space through a two-dimensional format. This development and willingness to experiment with space is channelled through my photography and digital video making background. Now as a painter who originally used painting as a by-product for constructing digital moving images, I have since solely focused on painting with the intention to make the viewer move rather than the work move itself.
