I am a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Knitwear & Knitted Textiles Design student. Working at the Outdoor Sports Company has provided me with strong technical design and development knowledge. This combined with my art foundation, in which I was awarded a distinction, means my practice combines both the conceptual and the functional. My final collection involves avant-garde silhouettes, exploring a person's relationship with nature, using both dubier and domestic knitting. It also incorporates technical fabrics and makeup skills such as: ripstop linings, sustainably sourced goose down and trousers seam sealed with waterproof tape. Alongside my collection I was awarded a first in my dissertation pertaining to post-humanism, mythology and Alexander McQueen. This prompted me to write an opinion piece asking, ‘where is the fashion philosophy degree?”. After graduating, I hope to explore knitwear within the outdoor industry and continue to research the epistemological implications of fashion.
