My name is Milly Matthews, and I am a mixed media, Textile Artist specialising in tufting, embroidery, and applique. Heysis explores the concept of sisterhood and its role in shaping women's identity. Through creative methods, I explore feminist methodologies to provide valuable insights into the power of sisterhood. As a woman who experiences sisterhood daily, I hold a strong connection to my work and an interest in how important these bonds are to individuals through their everyday experiences. This project not only provides insight into experiences within an academic sense but also offers a platform for women to be heard and share their opinions. My work contains playful experimentation with mixed media and scale, while intertwining sentimental memories. This illustrates a personal story that can inspire women to reflect on their sisterhoods. Heysis not only shares perspectives to enhance our understanding of the social world, but questions how textiles can communicate experiences.
