Hi, my name is Amanda, and I am an MA Illustration student, with a background as an Art and Design technician. I enjoy working with different materials and experimenting with new techniques. My practice focuses on UK biodiversity, combining traditional printmaking and digital illustration. For my MA project, I created a wallpaper collection highlighting the UK's biodiversity crisis. Wallpaper, often synonymous with design and decor, offers a new and exciting medium to create a compelling narrative about this issue. By subtly altering well-known design styles with odd elements and quiet changes that are seemingly unnoticeable at first glance, my work challenges our relationship with nature and draws attention to the slow, imperceptible changes occurring within it. After graduating, I plan to expand this collection and seek opportunities to collaborate with conservation organisations to raise awareness and promote biodiversity through my designs.
